About
Garden Haven was created to help others experience that same sense of abundance and tranquility in their own yards. I believe a well-designed garden can do more than grow food—it can help create a healthier microclimate, bringing shade, cooling, and balance to your outdoor space and even helping to cool the inside of your home. Whether you’re starting from scratch or refining an existing space, my goal is to help you create a garden and yard that feels productive, welcoming, and truly enjoyable.

Meet Liz
Gardening & Plants have been part of my life for as long as I can remember. Whether my family was renting or owning, there was always a garden. Our yards were filled with plants, flowers, trees, and vegetables—carefully tended and deeply loved. Both of my parents had a passion for growing things, and it showed in every backyard we called home.

That love for gardening runs even deeper. My paternal grandfather held a degree in horticulture, taught horticulture classes, and ran a successful honey business right here in Mesa, Arizona. My father grew up helping care for their 2½-acre property, which included extensive gardens, more than 50 fruit and nut trees they planted themselves, and the honey operation. Gardening wasn’t a hobby in my family—it was a way of life.

Much of what I know today started with my father. He spent countless hours helping me plan, build, and plant my first gardens, as well as teaching me how to care for my plants and trees. He patiently answered my questions and shared the fundamentals that continue to guide my approach today. While I wish I could still ask him so many things, I’m grateful to carry forward the knowledge he passed on.

Since then, my experience has grown through hands-on work, research, and plenty of trial and error. Gardening teaches patience, observation, and adaptability—and even the mistakes have their rewards. Year after year, my garden continues to provide fresh, organic vegetables and a deeper connection to the space around me. It has also become a refuge—a cooler, more comfortable place to enjoy during Arizona’s long, hot summers.
